From the manual: "Getting started / Outgoing".
Numbers between 0-100 (including 0 and 100) can be set. E.g., if skimming value is set to 90, surfer has 90% chance to see a gallery, when clicking on such link. Three different skimming types are available; internal, external and group skimming. Obviously they can't be used simultaneously. Internal skimming is the most recommended.
1. Internal: It can be set through the "Edit trade" console / "Skim" field. If "internal" skimming is set, "external" and "group" skimmings are ignored.
2. External: It can be set as a parameter (s=XXX) in an outgoing link. If "external" skimming is set, "group" skimming is ignored. It is out powered by the "internal" skimming though.
3. Group: You can set "group" skimming in the "Tools / Groups / Manage" menu. It is in use only, if the other two are not set.
----------------
You'll probably use "internal" skim. Using internal skim you can set skim for each individual trade and system trade. Simply go into the "stats / overview" menu and use mass edit form to set skim for all trades or click edit icon and set skim for a single trade / system trade.

I saw that in the manual - though not following how a skim can be set per trade - (in terms of site logic).

It's variable skim. in(s) from a specific trade get skimmed in a certain way, in(s) from others can have a different percent or pattern. Site doesn't have anything to do with it. Use group skimming for "site logic"

Hi Peter,
i prefer "internal skim". You simply use mass edit (in the stats / overview menu) to change skim to all trades at once.
You can set different skim for each trade and/or system trade. You can set default skim pattern for the webmaster sign up page in the "options / webmasters" menu. And you can set default skim pattern for trades signed up from admin interface in the " + trade" (new trade) window, "defaults" tab.
You can display skim column in the overview menu if you want to, by using interface wizard (edit interface from the overview menu).
Hope that helped.
regards,
Jim
