installation problem

Post by phtgpnet »

hey,

I'm trying to install TE but i run into some problems (error 500).

When i execute the checkos file, it tells me my linux version on the server is : linux 2.10 64bit
The installation file i should download accoring checkos is : install-Linux-2.10_64.zip

This file doesn't exist so i tried downloading and installing the installation package for Linux kernel 2.6.x - 64 bit.

Following the instructions i created the cgi-bin/te under my domain and uploaded the install.cgi (as ascii) into this folder.
I chmodded the file and te folder to 755.

When i try to execute the install file it gives me error 500 and tells me to check if i uploaded as ascii, i chmodded everything and my .htaccess is fine (wich isnt present at the moment)

Is there anything i can do to get this to work ?

I have to admit i have no experience with cgi, so first of all i checked wether my host supported cgi wich is. at least itsi n the features list on http://www.servage.net
I couldn't find a cgi-bin folder though to put my files in so i contacted the support of my server and this is their reply :

At Servage Hosting we allow you to place your CGI files in any directory you would like as long as you use one of these file extensions .pl or .cgi.

If you would like a cgi-bin directory simply create one via FTP in the document root folder of your domain.

So that is what i did, but still dont get it sto work. any sugestions ?

I talked to you on ICQ the other day as well. Yeah ,well, this Linux is too old and it's not supported anymore, sorry about that. Try to get it upgraded or something.
